Putney is north west of us, over towards the river, and it has the busiest high street we work on. Parking is most of the story. The streets round the shops are controlled and full by nine, so a Putney job is either first thing or after two, and we will say which when you ring rather than promising a slot we cannot keep.
Flats, and a lot of them
Most of what we clean here is a conversion of the same Victorian and Edwardian stock we work on at home, cut into upper and lower flats. Sharers and young professionals move through on short tenancies, so the move-out clean at £207 for a one bedroom is the job we do most often, with £243 for two bedrooms and one oven inside the price either way. It turns over fast. The mainline station puts Waterloo within reach for the commuters, while the District line trains run from East Putney up the hill, and between them they keep the rental market here moving quicker than ours.
Up towards the Heath
The houses get bigger as you climb away from the river and the carpet runs get longer with them, so a through lounge at £61 turns up far more often than a single living room at £43. Carpet prices are per room either way, and wool is commoner up there, which means a lower moisture setting and a longer drying window. Open a window if you can. It halves the time.
The river end
Down by the towpath it is dogs and mud from October onwards, and hallway carpets in the riverside flats get done twice as often as anything else in the property. Winter is the busy half of the year. A hall, stairs and landing done together dries in one go and works out better than calling us back for the hall on its own, which would run into the £67 minimum anyway. Ovens are £77 for a single and £110 for a double, cleaned with the racks dipped in the van while the cavity is done by hand in the kitchen.
Regular visits and one off resets
Weekly housework is £22 per cleaner per hour and fortnightly £24, with two or three hours the usual booking in a converted flat. Where a place has been shared for a couple of years and nobody has taken responsibility for the bathroom, a proper one off deep clean at £186 for two cleaners over three hours is the sensible start, and then the weekly rate keeps it there. We leave communal stairs alone. The outside of upstairs windows too, and neither of those helps a deposit anyway.
