Earlsfield sits east of us across King George’s Park, in the same SW18 postcode, on the suburban line into Waterloo. That train is behind half of what we do here. Households where both people are out of the door before eight, and nobody wants to spend Saturday morning on the bathroom. So we hold a lot of keys.
Mostly regular work
We do more weekly and fortnightly housework in Earlsfield than anywhere else on the patch. The rate is £22 per cleaner per hour weekly and £24 fortnightly. Three hours is the usual booking. Most of these houses leave a key with us or fit a key safe, because there is nobody in to answer the door between nine and six and we would rather not build a whole round out of Saturdays.
Carpets and the park
King George’s Park is the shortcut on foot and the long way round in a van, and it is also the reason the hallway carpets here need doing more often than the bedrooms do. Mud comes in on boots. Carpets are £36 a bedroom and £43 a living room, with stairs at £41 a flight. A single room on its own runs into our £67 minimum for one off work, so people tend to have the hall, stairs and landing done together, which also makes better sense of the drying time.
Move-out cleans near the station
Earlsfield, Putney and Wimbledon stations are all inside a mile of each other, and the flats within a short walk of any of them turn over quickly. A one bedroom move-out clean is £207 and a two bedroom £243, fixed on the phone, with one oven in the price. Loft rooms count as bedrooms. Tell us on the call and the figure will not shift on the day.
Ovens, and the hard water
Ovens are £77 for a single and £110 for a double, with the racks going into the dip tank in the van while the cavity is done by hand. Book one a year. The other thing worth knowing on this side of the borough is the water, which Thames Water supplies hard, so shower screens and kettles scale up faster than people expect and a screen left alone for a couple of years may already be etched past recovery.
Getting here
About ten minutes in the van when the traffic behaves. Earlsfield jobs get grouped with another one nearby rather than dropped in on their own, so if you can take a mid-morning slot we can nearly always fit you in the same week. The price list is the same one we use at home in Southfields, and the round often carries on east to the bigger houses by Wandsworth Common.
